Berlin Barnett

Jenkins Lab - Undergraduate Student

Berlin enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her family and friends. Before coming to BYU she was able to perform research on the diffusion limitations of cell infused alginate hydrogels for use in a 3D bio-printed model of a breast post mastectomy. Through this, her team researched another alternative to the DIEP-flap reconstruction which is often performed for women with breast cancer post-mastectomy. This gave her an opportunity to work extensively with cell culture, along with performing and designing specific protocols for her research. She has a great passion for research and loves researching issues in women's health, which led her to working in the Jenkins lab. She hopes to apply to medical school after completing a major in Cell Biology and Physiology, with the hope of specializing in neurosurgery.
